Meet the Founder
I'm Brady. I Cover the South Metro So You Don't Miss a Thing.
Every Monday and Thursday, I send 3,700+ neighbors a curated newsletter with local events, new businesses, and city council decisions β all in plain English.
The Origin Story
It Started with My Parents
My parents wanted to stay informed about what was happening in the South Metro. Simple enough, right? Except it wasn't. To get the full picture, they'd have to join a different Facebook group for every city β Lakeville, Burnsville, Apple Valley, Eagan β and then somehow piece together the important stuff from all the noise.
City council decisions that directly affected their neighborhood? Buried in three-hour YouTube recordings. That new restaurant everyone was talking about? Mentioned once in a random thread and gone. The festival they would've loved? They found out about it the Monday after.
βSomeone should just put all of this in one place and send it to people.β
So I did. I started attending city council meetings, reading through agendas, scrolling event calendars, checking in with local businesses β and turning all of it into a 5-minute email twice a week. No jargon. No politics. No crime blotter. Just the stuff that helps you enjoy living here and understand what's changing around you.
What started as a solution for my parents has grown into a community of 3,700+ South Metro residents who start their Mondays and Thursdays with the Scoop. I show up to the meetings so you don't have to. I translate the bureaucratic language into plain English. And I make sure you never have to say βwait, when did that happen?β about your own neighborhood again.
That's it. That's the whole thing. One person, one newsletter, one goal: keep you connected to the place you call home.
What I Believe
How I Think About This Work
A few principles that guide everything I write and cover.
Hyperlocal or Nothing
I only cover the South Metro. No state news, no national drama, no algorithm-picked filler. If it's not happening in your city or the one next door, it's not in the Scoop.
Talk Like a Neighbor
This should feel like a friend texting you about what's going on β not a formal news broadcast. I use plain language because city council decisions are too important to hide behind jargon.
Respect Your Time
Every issue is a 5-minute read. I do the hours of research so you can get caught up over coffee. If it's not worth your time, it's not in the newsletter.
Community Over Clicks
No crime coverage. No political drama. No outrage bait. I focus on the stuff that helps you enjoy living here, participate in local decisions, and discover what's new.
What I Cover
Dakota County & Scott County, Top to Bottom
Every issue covers news and events from across the South Metro β so whether you're in Shakopee or Hastings, you're getting the full picture.
